Private
Residence
Isla Solarte
2003
|
The client for this private residence in Panama desired a home that reflected the conservative spirit of Isla Solarte, and integrated into the tropical setting of the site, which slopes sharply towards the sea. Boer Architects provided schematic designs and 3-dimensional renderings of the project. The house is designed to provide sweeping views of the ocean. The shallow sloping roof of the great verandah and broad overhangs are influenced by local architectural styles and the warm, humid climate. Transom windows on all sides of the house bring in cool air and facilitate ventilation throughout the house. The design also provides for plenty of ventilation beneath the house, which is essential in preserving wood in hot humid conditions. A wooden sun deck and plunge pool, located at the top of the slope, also provide grand views and reflect the unique tastes of the homeowners. |
